Hali Duran
Hali began her training in 1992. In 1997 she received her first scholarship from Paula Abdul at Co. Dance and later in 1999 she was featured in her first professional ballet production with the David Taylor Ballet Company. Later in 2000 she attended the International Ballet School under the direction of Mark Carlson. From 2001-2007, she studied at the school of Ballet Nouveau Colorado (now Colorado Conservatory of Dance) under the direction of Richard and Jennifer Grund, Julia Wilkinson Manley and Camcie Foster. As an apprentice she had the pleasure of performing with the professional company of BNC (now Wonderbound) as well as the privilege to work every summer with the Dean of Oklahoma University’s school of dance Mary Margaret Holt and Loyola University’s Randall Newsom.
In 2007, after graduating high school, she accepted the Development Associate position for BNC while studying Dance among other things at the University of Colorado, Boulder. In Juneau, she joined Orpheus Project as the reconstructionist and choreographer for West Side Story. At Perseverance Theatre her credits include actor movement coach for Winter Bear, choreography for Peter and the Starcatcher, Sweeney Todd, and Dance Captain and cast member of Chicago. She is also a featured instructor during the Juneau STAR program. Earlier this year she choreographed Juneau Douglas Little Theatre’s Next to Normal. She joined the Con Brio Chamber Series for their Minimalism showcase. Sometimes she can be seen dancing back-up for Gamble and the High Costa Living with fellow Off The Hook Honeys. Having been an instructor at Juneau Dance Theatre, she continues to be a presence for the organization as a member of the board.
