Virginia Anderson
Vocalist Virginia Anderson is thrilled to return to the stage for the premier of The Princess Sophia. Her debut in Juneau with the Orpheus Project was a leading role in the opera premier of Bennu’s Birds, written by local composer Rory Stitt. Ms. Anderson loves new and contemporary music, having performed such works as William Bolcom’s Caberet Songs, The Ballad of Baby Doe by Douglas Moore, Music for Mallet Instruments, Voices and Organ by Steve Reich and Tan Dun’s Silk Road for multi-percussion and voice.
Ms. Anderson received both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Alaska Fairbanks under the instruction Dr. Jaunelle Celaire. During that time she maintained a steady private studio and performing schedule. Shortly after graduating she moved to Southeast Alaska where she and her husband owned and operated a zipline tour for the past 7 years. They recently sold their business this spring and it is Ms. Anderson’s hope to dedicate more time to teaching, singing and performing. She is currently applying to the Masters in Education and School Counseling program at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where she hopes to attend next year.
